Award

During the XII Conference on Steel and Composite Construction took place the award ceremony of the Portugal Steel Design Awards 2019.
This award takes place every two years, with the main objective of giving visibility and encouraging the creative use of steel in architecture and construction nationwide.
The competition was intended for projects or construction carried out by CMM company members, and projects for new buildings or bridges, as well as renovation projects (refurbishment, expansion or rehabilitation) were eligible.
The projects submitted by CMM members that met the requirements of the regulation were: AFR Expansion and remodeling of Faro Airport; Fast bridge; Longchamps Hippodrome; Lyon Airport; Maison de L'Economie Créative et de la Culture en Aquitaine - MÉCA; Nova Reitoria Católica.

The winner of the Portugal Steel Design Awards 2019 was the BYSTEEL - Longchamps Hippodrome, located in Paris, completed in February 2017. The awarded entities involved in the Project were:

• Engineering: Jaillet Rouby
• Architecture: Dominique Perrault Architecture
• Metalworking: Bysteel, S.A
• General Builder: Bouygues OPB

The awards ceremony was hosted by Professor Luís Simões da Silva.
